A perfect run with a perfect second workout

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Saturday so far! Mine started with me waking up before 7:00am. On a Saturday. Actually I’m pretty sure I woke up at 6:15am and couldn’t get back to sleep. So I got my butt out of bed and prepped for my 8.5 mile run. And by ‘prepped’ I mean ate a Cliff Bar and drink a lot of water while browsing Facebook and Pinterest. I usually wait an hour after I eat to run…because if I try to run any earlier after eating bad things tend to happen. I ended up having an awesome run. The weather was perfect (around 60 degree when I started) and I felt good almost the entire time. I started using the Nike+ app on my iPod, and I liked that it would tell me how much I had completed on a mile per mile basis, but when it got down to the last 400 meters and started counting down every 100 meters I just wanted to be done!

I can’t believe I did around 7:00 minutes/mile average, but the distance was similar to what my Garmin has said in the past, so I pretty much trust the distance. I was definitely wiped by the end of it!

After the run, Andrew and I met up with our friends Megan and Luke (Brief Friendship History: Megan was my best friend in college (and besides Andrew, is still my BFF), and she and Luke set Andrew and I up…so they’re pretty great ;)), along with their kids, at The French Twist, a cute café that just opened in their area.  I got ‘The Spanish’ crepe, which had eggs, salsa, cheese and avocado.  I didn’t get the cheese but opted for extra avocado instead (because avocado is always awesome).  I also got a mocha later that I shared with Andrew.  I suck and don’t have pictures of either of those things…but I did take a picture of Andrew and I while we were waiting for Megan and Luke.

After we ate, Noelle (Megan’s daughter) decided that I needed a second workout and we did laps around the room where we were hanging out.  Likely there weren’t too many people there so we could have fun 🙂 I’m pretty sure we walked around for at least a half mile…which is a pretty good cool down, don’t you think?

After talking (and playing with the kids) for almost three hours, we decided it was time to head home.  I will definitely miss them when we move…and I hope they visit us soon (pretty please, Megan?!).

Other than that I did more laundry, watched five episodes of Royal Pains and ate leftover fajitas for dinner (washed down with a beer, of course).  Tomorrow it’s supposed to be around 80 degrees, so I plan to spend some time at the pool (yay!).

Savory or Sweet Crepes? I definitely prefer dessert to a regular meal any day…but I figured I should eat something of substance after my long run.
